Anodizing an Aluminum Nameplate
Unparalleled quality should not have to come with a hefty price tag. For an attractive, cost-effective option, many customers choose our aluminum nameplate, which is anodized to create a strong, tough exterior. The process begins by thoroughly cleaning the natural alloy piece, before the anodized layer is grown by creating a direct current through an electrolytic solution. This current releases hydrogen and oxygen at the surface of the aluminum, creating a new layer of aluminum oxide.
Next, the piece is bathed in an acidic solution that slowly dissolves the aluminum oxide. This balances the oxidation rate and forms a microscopic coating of tiny pores. The open pores allow for the electrolyte solution and current to reach the aluminum base, to continue proliferation of the protective coating.
Finally, the custom nameplates and products may receive a layer of colored dye before being sealed, to meet a client's specific requests. Once the process is complete, you will have a quality item that can withstand the elements and the test of time.
