LED technology allows selective backlighting of text and graphics and costs significantly less than other backlighting strategies. LED backlighting uniformity can be significantly enhanced by incorporating fiber optics to distribute light uniformly. Other lower cost diffusion techniques can also be untilized. (See Fig 1.)
Electro Luminescence (EL) provides excellent light uniformity with very low power consumption. (See Fig 2.)
